Eco-IVF with ICSI

The Eco-IVF program cost of $5,990 includes ICSI with the IVF treatment cycle, in the case that your partner has semen problems.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) overview

Male infertility factors account for nearly a third of all cases of infertility. These may include azoospermia (rare, complete absence of sperm in ejaculate), low sperm count, or abnormal sperm. If your physician feels that there is any concern about the availability or quality of the male’s sperm prior to the Eco-IVF procedure, then IVF with ICSI may be recommended. ICSI has revolutionized the treatment of male infertility since it allows couples to achieve fertilization, even when very small quantities sperm are available.

How is the ICSI procedure performed?

ICSI is a micromanipulation technique, in which a highly trained embryologist surgically inserts a single sperm directly into an egg. This is performed under microscope guidance by perforating the membrane of the egg with a glass pipette and then releasing the sperm inside the egg.

Who is ICSI for?

ICSI can be used for a variety of male infertility factors including:

  • Low sperm count (oligospermia)
  • Complete lack of sperm (azoospermia), after sperm extraction through methods like TESE
  • Poor sperm quality
  • Other male or female factors preventing sperm penetration through the membrane of the female egg

What if I have no sperm (azoospermia)?

In the case of azoospermia, where no sperm are present in an ejaculate, an additional procedure my be recommended where our urologist colleague extracts small amounts of semen directly from the testes, which can be used for ICSI. This can be done through one of several techniques including testicular sperm extraction (TESE), microepididymal sperm aspiration (MESA) or percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA).

How much does ICSI cost?

An IVF with ICSI procedure is included at no extra cost in our Eco-IVF program fee of $5,990 per cycle. For more information visit our Eco-IVF program cost page.
